February News!

Noetic Math Contest

On November 14, 2014, ten Jefferson students, along with 25,000 students nationwide took a 45 minute 20 question math test. The goal of the competition is to encourage students' interest in math, develop problem solving skills, and inspire them to excel in math.   Many of these problems were very challenging and students had to really pay attention to what was being asked of them.  It was not a multiple choice contest.

I am pleased to announce that  Ava Bertling made the Noetic Math Honor Roll. She also was the 4th grade team winner.  Way to go Ava!

I am also please do announce that Tammy Xiong was the 5th grade team winner for this fall math contest.  Tammy was honorably mentioned for her performance and math skill as well.  Congratulations!

Other Honorable Mentions include:

Kaleb Verville
Kalijah Gincer
Chloe Sizemore
Daniel Santiago
Dakota Terry
Jasmine Garcia

This test was extremely difficult and I am so pleased that Seeraj Suleiman and Macy Freeland participated.  I know they are going to do even better on the next math challenge April 2nd!

Mark your calendar and study hard, April 2nd is the next Math Challenge!
Students in grades 4 and 5 will be invited to participate.

Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Ava Bertling!  She was able to represent Jefferson school well.  We are very proud of her finishing in the top 10!
